Police have safely removed a second suspicious device in New York, after an earlier "intentional" explosion in the city`s Chelsea district injured at least 29 people.
The blast is believed to have occurred in a dumpster on 23rdStreet near Sixth Avenue at around 8.30pm local time (10.30am AEST).
Video taken from the nearby Orangetheory fitness centre and obtained by 9news.com.au showed a bright flash and debris strewn across the street, followed by pedestrians running from the scene

The New York Police Department also investigated a possible second device on 27th Street, with the area locked down and people urged to avoid the area

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said there are no indications the explosion was linked to terrorism, and added none of those wounded are expected to die from their injures.
"The early indications are that this was an intentional act," Mr de Blasio told reporters.
He added there was "no specific and credible threat to New York City at this point in time."
"It`s something we will be investigating very carefully, but there is no evidence at this point of a terror connection," Mr de Blasio said
